Jtable Scrolling Performance Issue resolved
One of our user reported a strange problem. It seems InfoCaptor performed terribly slow for a particular query, the query had quite a large number of columns (over 160). But this did not make sense as InfoCaptor with other large column queries works just fine. The problem was not with the database as the Query completes and all the data is locally cached. The results are displayed in the Jtable but the problem occurs whenever the user tried to scroll the data. The screen freezes for few seconds for every scroll attempt.

We were going nowhere with this, we tried different table queries with extreme large number of columns, with large columns, large number of rows but in our tests we never hit the problem!

Finally we asked the user to send us the table scripts and export just 1000 rows of that table. We recreated the table with the data provided. Bingo! We reproduced the exact situation the customer was facing.

After spending some considerable amount of time debugging, we identified the probable culprit. The customer's query results had lots of empty column cells. The results were sparsely populated and whenever the user tried to scroll past the null columns it froze for few seconds. So the cause was partly identified and later digging into the InfoCaptor code, revealed our bug!!!

In our Jtable code the getValueAt() function returned whatever value it found without checking the nulls. The fix was to check for null values and return a "" instead. This seems to have resolved the Jtable Scrolling issue. We will testing this fix and release a new update soonish!!

Energy Trick using Imaginary Balls
I wanted to share this trick which I learnt by reading it on this site http://www.AstralDynamics.com

I couldn't re-locate the exact text on this website. Here is the description of the trick

This trick is to increase your Energy Flow in your body. The best part is you can practise this with open eyes, closed eyes and anytime, either walking, standing, laying or sitting at your desk.

Since you are sitting at your desk right now, lets begin here.

Place your both palms on the desk, facing upwards.

Imagine a tennis ball placed on your left hand. Try to feel the pressurized location in the center of your left palm. Don't worry if you do not feel anything in the beginning. To increase the sensitivity of the localized pressure, just scratch the center of your left palm a little with your right hand finger nails. Stop scratching and remember the scratching feeling. The key here is to remember the feeling.

Once this initiation is done, push the imaginary ball from your left palm upwards (like a trajectory) and mentally follow the complete path of the ball as it lands in the center of your right palm. Now again push it upwards with your will and mental force and let it land on the other hand.

Follow this exercise for 5 trajectories and stop. If you are energy sensitive you should have already begun to feel the localized pressure in the center of atleast one palm. If not, scratch a little and repeat the process.

Let me know how you progress...

Tracking WebSite Performance
Just installed Google Analytics on this website. We already have Webalizer for website Analytics which is a good and useful tool. Coupled with Google Analytics we would like to see how we could benefit from the added information...

We recently changed our .html pages to .php and suddenly our page rank dropped to 1. Since we have just begun marketing the website its not a big loss.

We will publish it to small audience incrementally. This way we can assess the feedback and improve upon it. We can assess our web hosting statistics and so on.
